Is the PS3 Slim for me?
I was having a conversation with my tech/gamer/alumni buddy Donald yesterday, we were having out at my pad and disscusing which console I should think of getting to kind of get me into playing games more. I always had my eye on the Xbox 360, and I heard very little about the PS3 Slim.
From our talk he brought up some good points, like that fact that you can simply plug in your external hard-drive (into the Slim’s usb) and stream the media you have on there… also I have a good old PSP, which means I can interchange media and what nots between the two. The Slim is also much cheaper, and the internal HDD is upgradeable.
The one thing I heard that is a set back is, The Slim isn’t backward compatible with PS2 games, but it is with PS1 games..hmmm that’s kind of odd to me. BUT! the good side is, I don’t have PS2 games, and PS1 games are fairly priced, if you can find them. So The PS3 Slim is looking pretty good..now I’m not going to out and buy one RIGHT NOW! but I’m liking where Sony is taking this.
Nice Job guys. =)
In Other News:
Ramadan (The Islamic Holy Month) Starts on Satruday Aug 22nd, wohoo! good times are here again =)
Salaam.
Mid-Week update =)
The biggest update is that I got a hair cut, hehehe, what I like to call a Fro-Hawk, its actually pretty nice, I like it, and so far many others like it too. Some how I feel a different energy because of it.
Also I was able to land a few tickets to go to an early viewing of District 9 tonight. So a few friends and I will be heading over there after work, should be fun =)
I’m playing a show tomorrow, help a friend move on Saturday, and hit the studio for recording on Sunday. So I get to chill on Friday, sweeet! =)
I’ve been in a strange “reading” mood, I don’t know why. So maybe I’ll use my Friday night wisely and do some reading.
Alright, that’s what’s been going on here. I hope all is well with you =)
Salaam.
TGIF =)
Its been such a beautiful day so far Al-Hamdulillah (Thank God), my back isn’t hurting, the ride to work was nice and smooth, got to pay bills on-line, closed 2 main tickets, and luckily it has been nice and quite here at the Help Desk. Beautiful! =)
The plan, Insha Allah (God Willing), will be to finish work, drive up to Sharief’s and practice and practice the songs that he will be playing with me on for the album. Then I get to go to my AshPad and relax for the rest of the evening.
Tomorrow, I play a show with NOJERU at Leadbetters in Fells Point, then I drive up to Bowie, MD for the ilyAIMY CD release party. After the show, I go spend the night with Mom & Meezo.
Sunday, I get to spend with Meezo, hopefully get some digital errands done before coming back up the City.
All and all should be a wonderful weekend Insha Allah (God Willing)
Yesterday was very lovely, it was The Java Mammas’ Open Mic Two Year anniversary, got to see some new talents, and some old favorites. ALSO it was the monthly challenge event, new up-and-coming artist Jessica (put her in a Black Dress) won this month with her “I love kazoo” song. Rick Millman, Heather Lloyd, & Rob of ilyAIMY also provided us with some awesome songs, I must say, all 4 are actually pretty damn catchy, great job guys & gals.
The topic for August is…Broken Chair Legs…sigh, these topics seriously aren’t helping my muse block. I try, I really do, but the way I think needs for the topic to be odd, Rob did a smart thing of playing with the word “Kazoo” and chose California Zoo, and used the “CA” abbreviation so when its put together it makes “CAzoo”…my brain doesn’t work that way. Also I’m used to writing about situations more than anything else, that’s way it was easier for me to write for “Sandstrom love affair”, “You never answer”, “The owls see everything”, because they are more of an open topic, could be crafted in so many way, but when it comes to “objects”, I’m not very good.
I have jotted down some random ideas last night for “Broken Chair Legs”, but I’m not really feeling anything, I’m going to try to be less literral and try to open up the “box” and see what happens.
Wish me luck.
I wish you all a Wonderful Weekend.
Salaam.
Alter Egos of Ash
I woke up today and started messing around with the idea of changing my hair, I don’t want to just “cut it” as I did in the past, so I decided to get a “Faux Hawk”, I haven’t done it yet, but I’ve been thinking about it.
Then during my day a good friend of mine sent me an article about Muslim Punk Rockers. Who call there movement “Taqwacore”, based on the novel The Taqwacoresby Michael Muhammed Knight. Now I’m determined to get a Faux Hawk because this could not have been a coincidence =)
I’m very interested in getting this book, I’m at a stage in which I’m questioning many things, and looking at how Islam is being interpreted by others. M.M. Knight converted to Islam when he was 16, but didn’t enjoy the orthodox way, and this book is a tribute to a Punk Subculture of Muslims youngsters living as Muslims in the US via the punk rock scene.
What is pissing me off at this point is that its not available in the Sony ebook library yet..DAMN!!..so I guess I will have to give in, and kill a tree to actually read it.
mOsno has been quite active, playing shows, having future collaborations with MD & DC artist. Its been an awesome year so far Al-Hamdulillah.
Well I just wanted to write and say HI, and I can’t wait until pay day so I can order this book. Speaking of which, I need to finish reading “Through Violet Eyes”, I read until I fell asleep last night, I’m so proud of myself =)
Hello Friday
I hope you are all enjoying the end of your week. I love Fridays, and as I was driving to work this morning, they played “Holidaaaayee” on the radio, which made me feel good, its a good sign =)
I’ve been SUPER busy, working on my album, giging all over the place, and enjoying my city life. Al-Hamdulillah (thank God).
For some reason I’m feeling very “Dilberty” today, since my plans require me to be at home tonight, I think I’ll hit up Hulu and enjoy a few episodes. No matter how many time I watched them, I just can’t stop. They are so good, I’m thinking of actually buying the complete series, they only had one or two seasons I think, and they were awesome =)
mOsno.net is advancing, I now have video clips from YouTube on there (well ONE clip at the moment) but soon enough all that will change. =)
I hope you are all doing well, I wish you and awesome weekend.
Salaam.
I love this thing + more
I feel like I’m living in the future =). My Palm Centro is The Awesome.
I mean I don’t think I will need to EVER change it, unless they make it some how even cooler.
With one gadget, I am able to have my Calendar, Tasks, Memos, Emails & My Phone. Its genius. I even installed the totally free and super awesome Facebook app, which you can download from the Plam website.
Being the super active music man that I am now, I have my Mosno email set up to be recieved by the Centro, that way I could respond quicker to potential gigs and what not =)
I have been working on my album, I keep the mosno site update constantly, so if you want more information about all the coolness that this album is going to be, then check out the site =)
I’m still working at JHHC as a PC tech, and I have been approached by a fellow UBer to help with an up coming game that they are working on. Yet again, I shall be, the Audioman =). I’m actually pretty excited about this, I met with Brian the other day for a late lunch, and he showed me the game and gave me some info about the project, I’m thinking of creating a catagory for it here on the site, since I’m sure I’ll be doing some interesting stuff.
ALSO: the AshPad is 95% complete, oh yea.
My good buddy Jusef helped a couple of weeks ago, we bought a coach from the Thrift Store which was located at my old building, it was $35, and its pretty comfy. We cleaned it up, got some fabric fresheners, and used a large old bed cover and viola! we have seating.
He had a old desk that he was going to throw way, and offered it to me, so I placed that infront of the coach, and set the TV to the very top, and I know have the rest of the desk to use as, well, a desk AND entertainment system, since I have my movies placed where books should be, heheheeh.
I got the TV & PC plugged in, so now I can switch back and forth as I please, and I could actually ask people to come over knowing that there would be some kind of entertainment that can be enjoyed. Not to mention WiFi =)
All I need at this point is to get the wireless keyboard with integraded mouse, and then it would be complete =). Well I hope you are all have a great day.
Salaam.
My Centro + This Weekend
alright, some of you might have noticed my niffty new device =)
I finally bought a Palm Centro, and its neat gadget, I really like it.
Pros:
I now don’t have to carry a cell phone & a PDA, the centro is an all in one, I’m already familiar with the OS, so all I had to get used to were a few new buttons.
So now I’m able to have my calendar, answer email, text, & call friends (and venues) even quicker! which is great for business of course =)
Also I just found this awesome blog post that gave me a whole bunch of neat tips to make my Centro even awesome-er
Cons:
The battery life. for some reason my phone can’t hold a charge for more than a day, if that. I’m not sure if its related to the whole “wireless sync” accpect of things or not.
I will try to research the issue, hopefully its a simple solution (other than keeping it plugged in)
This weekend should be fun Insha Allah (god willing), tonight I’m going to go see The Hangover with my good friend Jusef, tomorrow I might take a stroll at our beautiful Inner Harbor and see the Chinasources. Then at night going to the Michael Jackson tribute at Vibez. Sunday I get to do a scratch recording for my cd. More info on that at my Stage Persona’s site =) mOsno
Have a safe & great weekend everyone.
Salaam.
A website for $20
That’s right, I have been trying to get a website up for the longest time, and now that my music persona is so active =) I decided to get a website up.
Now it cost it about $18 to buy the domain name from GoDaddy, and this is for 2 or 3 years. Now the challenge for me was to get a site up as soon as possible, that will provide as much information as possible.
The first blog I had was good, but if someone wanted to listen to my music, they had to hit the link to my ReverbNation page, if they wanted to see where I’m playing next, they had to click the “Gigs” catagory and look at the latest post, OR navigate through my Reverbnation page…all this is was fine, but I need a more effecient way to do it, and also the cheaper the better.
I looked into it and found that ReverbNation has some very cool widgets, but non were for WordPress, which kind of sucks, because WordPress has some really cool Themes.
NON the less, they had widgets for Blogger.
So I created a free account in blogger, tested out the widgets and it works GREAT!…now s “join the mailing list”, music & gig info are all readily avialbe, and is automatically updated when ever I update my ReverbNation page, its genius.
So all I had to do was log into my GoDaddy account, and forward the domain to the blog. So now anybody could go to Mosno.Net, and get a “website”.
I’ll keep searching and trying out different blog sites until I find one that looks SUPER professional, with cool templates, then I’ll be set. Until then, keep checking www.mosno.net to see how things are looking =)
I just wanted to post what I did in case there are any bands out there having a hard time putting a website together. Aside from buying the domain, all the other sites are free =)
Take care everyone, have a safe holiday.
Salaam.
Good news & Bad news
The good news is there is no mosno in Blogspot, which means I was able to get mosno.blogspot.com…nothing is there yet except some test posts.
More good news, the widgets from ReverbNation are “formated” for Blogger, which means I could coustomize it to be almost like a real site with a few tweaks here and there.
The bad news: Reverbnation is actually down at the moment, so I’m not able to actualy test the widgets before I reforward my domain name to it.
More bad news, blogger doesn’t have as many cool themes as WordPress does =(. so it make end up looking kind of “cheesy”, until I find some kind of cool downloadable theme for it.
So make sure to keep checking www.mosno.net and soon enough it will be getting a facelift.
I’ll keep you posted.
Salaam.
Weekend-ness =)
So we are actually off tomorrow at work, but I’ll be coming in for a couple of hours to take care of some things. My Centro should be arriving in the mail today, I keep tracking it on the FedEx site, and its in Maryland now..eeeek, so exciting. I only hope that the Verizon store will be open tomorrow so that I could get my information transfered, eeeeeek so exciting.
Last night show went really well, there was a couple sitting next to the “stage” who were really into the music, after my set the lady came up to me to told me that she was half Greek, so she totally dug the whole “middle-eastern” vibe to the music. Sweet. Her mail friend also loved the fusion, he told me that its something new and pleasant. Through out the night I saw them point and talk about about to eachother, glad I left such a nice impression. Sweeeet.
This is encouraging me to get new cards made with “www.mOsno.net” on them to give out, also I need to start a mailing list.
I do have a show tomorrow at Joe Squared, that place is usually packed on Friday nights, I think I’ll print a sheet out and have people give me their emails.
Step by step, I’m almost there, I think I’m completely relying on Digital format, I think I might need to do some actually “physical” labor =)
I’ll be hitting the JaMas open mic tonight, and play my Michael Jackson cover, they should be pleasantly surprised (at least those who didn’t hear it Saturday) but it has changed since then to, so hopefully it’ll be a nice “mix” for the ones that HAVE heard it =)
Later my friends.
Salaam.
